Chief Quality Officer & General Manager
Kurt joined Caption Colorado as Chief Financial Officer in 2002, bringing to the table over 25 years of experience in finance and accounting – including a senior management role at Price Waterhouse Coopers and consulting in both the public and private sectors.
Kurt is a graduate of the University of Colorado, where he received his BA in Economics. He’s also a diehard sports fan, and has been attending Broncos games for the past 50 years! Kurt has two sons and a daughter-in-law, and is happily married to his wife of 30 years. He is known throughout his neighborhood as a skilled holiday decorator and master pumpkin carver, and also for what he gives back to his community through volunteer work.

Chief Sales Officer
John Irwin joined the Caption Colorado team as Chief Sales Officer in 2003. John oversees the sales and marketing departments, helping to accelerate the company’s growth over the past decade. John is a veteran TV and radio executive, with over 30 years of experience managing well-known media facilities, including Denver’s own KOSI FM (his work there in the 80s earned him nods from the National Association of Broadcasters and Billboard Magazine).
In his time outside the office, John enjoys giving back to his community and has held various leadership positions with well-known nonprofit organizations. He loves spending time with his wife Martha, their 5 children, and several grandchildren.

Vice-President, Service Delivery
Before joining Caption Colorado in 2012 as our Vice President of Service Delivery, Ben honed his technical skills over a decade working in IT. He earned his degree in computer science from Metro State University, and soon after moved into IT roles at well-known companies including Lockheed Martin.
In his time outside of work, Ben is an avid reader and volunteer in his community. Ben sits on the board of directors for the Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council, and donates his time to numerous other organizations. He also likes to spend time practicing martial arts, hiking, climbing, and photographing our beautiful state. Ben lives in Denver with his wife and cat.

Randy joined the Caption Colorado team in 2002, bringing with him nearly two decades of sales experience. He was born and raised in San Bernardino, and earned bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Business from California State University.
Randy lives in Loveland, CO with his wife of 37 years and their Chihuahua. They have two children, and their first grandchild on the way. Outside of work, Randy is an active member of his community and volunteers for local elections, school sports teams, and his church. When time allows, Randy and his wife also enjoy racing sailboats and riding their motorcycle.
Brenda Nowicki joined Caption Colorado in 2008, bringing with her over 13 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Her background includes sign language interpreting, Sprint Relay, and working with a variety of corporations, universities, event centers, and government entities. Brenda also serves as outreach to Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities nationwide, focusing on captioning regulations.
Brenda’s passion for accessibility is fueled by her two daughters, now in college, one of whom was born deaf. Over the past two decades, she’s contributed to many different committees and organizations related to deafness and captioning. Brenda lives with her two cats, and a dog that she is training to become a therapy dog for seniors in assisted living facilities.
Vice-President, Captioner Management
Jennifer joined the Caption Colorado team in 2009, and rose through the ranks to become our Vice President of Captioner Management in May 2016. She is a voice captioner and member of NVRA (National Verbatim Reporters Association). Jennifer was born in North Carolina, and studied Education at the University of Texas, El Paso. After college, Jennifer worked as a flight attendant, and then in the banking industry before training as a captioner.
Today, Jennifer lives in Highlands Ranch, Colorado with her husband of 27 years, Andy, three children, and two dogs. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Senior Manager of Realtime Services
David joined the Caption Colorado team in 2004 and quickly found his calling in the fast-moving field of realtime captioning, serving as our Senior Manager of Realtime Services.
Before coming to Caption Colorado, David studied Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast & Electronic Journalism at the University of Northern Colorado, where he had his own radio show. He is a Colorado native, born in Englewood, and lives with his wife and two dogs – a beagle and a black lab. In his free time outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his wife, car racing, studying history, and following whatever sport is in season.
Manager of Post Production
Jason joined the Caption Colorado team back in 2007 as a quality control lead, and soon after moved up to become our Manager of Post Production. Jason studied Multimedia Graphic Design at Platt College, and managed a portfolio of office properties before coming to Caption Colorado.
Jason was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming and lives in Colorado with his wife Rachel, their son, and the family dog, a Shih Tzu named Chili. In his free time, Jason enjoys camping with his family and seeking out the hottest pepper sauces he can find. Jason also has a keen interest in financial markets, and enjoys investing in other businesses and following their performance.

Manager of Financial Operations
Financial Event Operations Manager
Michele joined Caption Colorado in 2009 and soon became an integral part of our team, moving up to her current role as Manager of Financial Event Operations at the start of 2014.
Michele is a Colorado native, and studied Exercise Science at Metropolitan State College of Denver. Before coming to Caption Colorado, she worked as a dance instructor for more than a decade.
Michele lives in Aurora with her husband Michael, two daughters, and two dogs. In her free time, she can often be found cooking, dancing, and spending time with her family. Offline Service Supervisor
Christy Duran joined Caption Colorado in 2006 as a quality control associate, bringing with her nearly two decades of quality control experience working for a mutual fund company. She soon rose to the top of her department, and now works as our Offline Service Supervisor. Christy studied at the Denver Academy of Court Reporting.
Christy was born in Del City, Oklahoma and lives in Aurora, Colorado. She is the proud mother of three daughters, two dogs, and one cat. When she’s not working, she enjoys dancing, hiking, going to the movies, and spending time with her family.

Short Notice Scheduling Manager
Kayla first joined our team in 2011 as the receptionist, and very quickly moved up into new roles within our fast-paced scheduling department as company leadership recognized her knack for organization and stellar customer service. Kayla was promoted to her current role as Short Notice Scheduling Manager in 2015.
Kayla was born in San Leandro, California, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Metro State University. She lives in Highlands Ranch with her rescue dog, a black lab mix. In her free time outside of work, Kayla’s favorite hobby is ATVing. She also enjoys hitting the tennis court and playing table games (especially craps and roulette) with her friends and family.
